On Sunday, heavy rainfall was reported across various cities in Sergipe, Brazil, with significant impact noted in Maruim, Japaratuba, NeΓ³polis, Carira, and Feira Nova. The Civil Defense warned that the intense rainfall and strong winds would persist throughout the day, with wind gusts reaching between 30 and 40 km/h. An alert from the National Institute of Meteorology indicated that rain accumulation could reach up to 50 mm in a day, with wind speeds potentially escalating to 60 km/h.
In Maruim, the rains led to severe flooding, while in Porto da Folha, a wall collapsed at the city's entrance. The city of Aracaju experienced thunder, lightning, and strong winds, creating hazardous conditions for residents. Moreover, on the previous day in Lagarto, the municipal market was inundated, forcing vendors to evacuate their stalls under urgent circumstances. The intense winds also caused structural damage during an event in Itabaiana, leading to injuries among some workers in the area.
