Criminals roamed for almost an hour through a housing development in Samborondón to rob residences

Criminals targeted several homes in a gated community in Samborondón, Ecuador, during a break-in that lasted nearly an hour before detection.

On Saturday, February 7, in a gated community in Samborondón, Ecuador, a group of criminals executed a series of home burglaries over a span of about an hour. Initial reports suggested that five homes were affected across two residential complexes, but this information was later confirmed to be inaccurate by the National Police following a detailed investigation. Major Orlando Posligua, the acting chief of the Samborondón district, indicated that three suspects entered the area in a white vehicle without triggering any alerts at the control gate.

Despite the presence of multiple security checkpoints staffed with private guards and technological monitoring tools, the vehicle reportedly moved around the community for approximately one hour before committing the crimes. The break-ins occurred within a specific timeframe, approximately between 6:30 PM and 7:20 PM, highlighting potential lapses in the local security measures. One of the residences targeted had been unoccupied for six months and was forcibly entered during the incident.

This incident raises serious concerns regarding the effectiveness of security protocols in gated communities, which are often perceived as safe environments. The failure of the control mechanisms to alert security personnel could allow for similar crimes to occur in the future. Local authorities are expected to re-evaluate safety measures to prevent such incidents, ensuring residents feel safe in their homes and reinforcing the community's security infrastructure.
