Man loses part of leg in tractor accident in North Minas
A 60-year-old man had part of his right leg amputated following a tractor accident on a farm in rural Berizal, Northern Minas Gerais.
A tragic accident occurred in Northern Minas Gerais where a 60-year-old man lost part of his right leg while operating a tractor on a farm. The incident took place in Berizal, a rural area, where the victim slipped and his leg got trapped in agricultural equipment attached to the tractor. This unfortunate event led to a partial amputation of the leg. Emergency services, specifically the 8th Platoon of the Military Fire Corps based in Salinas, responded promptly to the scene of the accident. Upon arrival, they found that the Advanced Life Support (SAAV) unit from the 3rd Special Company of Aerial Operations had already begun administering first aid to the injured man. The firefighters then executed a rescue operation using hydraulic equipment to free the manβs trapped leg safely from the tractorβs structure. This incident underscores the potential dangers associated with agricultural machinery, particularly in rural areas where safety protocols may sometimes be overlooked. It also highlights the importance of rapid emergency response in minimizing the impact of such accidents, and may lead to discussions on improving safety measures for farm workers in Brazil, especially in rural settings where such machinery is commonly used.
