Military Police defines security scheme for Carnival in North and Northwest Fluminense
The Military Police in Brazil's North and Northwest Fluminense regions is implementing a security plan for the upcoming Carnival celebrations.
As the official start of Carnival approaches on Friday, February 13, the Military Police commander for the North and Northwest Fluminense regions met with commanders from local battalions to finalize security strategies. This meeting took place at the Integrated Public Security Region headquarters and aims to ensure a safe celebratory environment during the festivity. Colonel André Luiz, commander of the 6th Area Policing Command (6th CPA) based in Campos, indicated that the security strategy will mirror that implemented during the New Year celebrations. All personnel from the 6th CPA will be focused solely on ensuring security in the designated cities under their jurisdiction, with no officers being reassigned to other regions. The emphasis is on maintaining a strong police presence in the local area. In addition to regular patrols, officers who typically hold administrative roles will also assist in street policing during this festive period. This measure is part of a broader effort to enhance security and deter potential disturbances during one of Brazil's most popular public celebrations, reflecting a proactive approach to managing large public events.
