Value of goods seized by the Federal Revenue reaches R$ 82 million in the region of Presidente Prudente
The Federal Revenue in Presidente Prudente has reported a significant rise in the value of seized goods as criminal organizations shift focus to smaller but more valuable loads.
The operational report from Brazil's Federal Revenue in Presidente Prudente (SP) has highlighted a notable transformation in seizure patterns related to smuggling and tax evasion. Although the overall number of incidents saw a moderate increase of 4.6%, the financial assessment of intercepted goods surged by an impressive 63.38%, escalating from R$ 50.1 million to R$ 81.9 million. This trend indicates that criminal organizations may be adapting their strategies by concentrating on smaller, high-value shipments, reflecting a shift in their operational tactics.
In detail, the field of tax evasion, particularly concerning electronics and diverse goods, has shown a striking development where the quantity of recorded incidents dipped by 6.6%, yet the total value of these items skyrocketed by 123%, reaching R$ 65.8 million in 2025. This discrepancy suggests that while the volume of items being caught has decreased, the worth of these items is on the rise, perhaps indicating that traffickers are prioritizing more expensive products.
Conversely, in the realm of cigarette smuggling, the authorities have ramped up their surveillance efforts, leading to a nearly 90% rise in the number of seizures – increasing from 28 to 53 incidents. However, the total value of the goods confiscated in this category has diminished by 34%. This decline may imply that the smuggling operations are adjusting by fragmenting their shipments into smaller, less valuable loads to evade detection and penalties, showcasing the continually evolving landscape of contraband activities.
