On Monday, more than R$ 770 thousand in products were seized during an operation by the Federal Revenue in Bahia, Brazil. The operation, which resulted in the detention of 659 packages, aimed to combat the illegal entry of imported goods into the state. Inspections occurred in various cities, including Salvador, Simões Filho, Feira de Santana, and Vitória da Conquista, targeting transport companies, the Treatment Center for Letters and Packages at the Correios in the capital, and distribution centers for e-commerce platforms.

Among the seized items were 144 packages containing smartphones, exercise bikes, an electric bicycle, watches, smartwatches, medications, and accessories for mobile phones. The operation also successfully removed drones, cameras, and electronic cigarettes from circulation. In Salvador alone, about 500 packages were seized, with a total estimated value surpassing R$ 770 thousand, highlighting the significant efforts of the authorities to address irregular import activities.

This operation underscores the ongoing challenges faced by Brazilian authorities in regulating international trade and customs enforcement.
