Jigawa reassures residents on HPV vaccine safety
The Jigawa State government has assured its residents of the safety and protective benefits of the HPV vaccine, which has been integrated into the state's immunization program for girls aged 9-14.
The Jigawa State government is making significant efforts to reassure residents about the safety and efficacy of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. Dr. Shehu Sambo, the Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, emphasized that the vaccine is safe and non-harmful, aimed particularly at improving maternal health outcomes in the state by protecting girls from HPV-related health issues.
During an interview, Dr. Sambo explained that the HPV vaccine will be included in the state's routine immunization program targeted towards girls aged 9 to 14 years. He highlighted the importance of this initiative in combating the health risks associated with HPV, which can lead to genital warts and various types of cancer. The reassurance from health officials aims to encourage parents to accept and promote vaccinations for their daughters, thereby enhancing the overall health of the community.
Furthermore, Dr. Sambo clarified that the introduction of the HPV vaccine is a collaborative effort between the Jigawa State government and the Federal Government. This initiative is vital in increasing awareness about HPV and fighting against its associated health risks, ultimately striving to improve the health outcomes of women and girls in Jigawa State. The government hopes that through the effective dissemination of information and education on the importance and safety of the vaccine, families will be more inclined to participate in the immunization program, fostering a healthier future for the state's young girls.
