General Staff: Russia has lost 1,246,330 troops in Ukraine since Feb. 24, 2022

Ukraine's General Staff reports that Russia has lost over 1.2 million troops and substantial military equipment since the invasion began.

The General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces stated that as of February 8, 2023, the total number of Russian troops lost in Ukraine since the onset of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, has reached approximately 1,246,330. This staggering figure includes 1,040 casualties that Russian forces incurred in just the past day, underscoring ongoing losses in the field.

In addition to troop losses, the report details significant losses of military hardware. Russian forces have reportedly lost 11,651 tanks, 24,010 armored fighting vehicles, 77,439 vehicles and fuel tanks, and 37,044 artillery systems. Furthermore, they have lost 1,637 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,295 air defense systems, and substantial numbers of aircraft including 435 airplanes and 347 helicopters.

These figures highlight the ongoing intensity of the conflict and raise questions regarding Russia's capability to sustain its military efforts. With losses of 127,549 drones and 28 vessels, including submarines, the operational impact on the Russian military is pronounced, suggesting a significant depletion of their forces and technology, potentially influencing the future strategy and outcome of the war in Ukraine.
