Three Bolivians were arrested for international drug trafficking after being caught with 351 kilograms of coca leaves in Brazil.

Police from the Tactical Ostensive Highway Police (TOR) apprehended three men for drug trafficking during an operation on the Orlando Quagliato Highway in Ourinhos, São Paulo. The men were caught with 351 kilograms of coca leaves, a raw material used to produce cocaine, during a routine inspection on a bus traveling from Corumbá, Mato Grosso do Sul, to São Paulo. Officers discovered the coca leaves hidden in 15 bags in the bus's external luggage compartment. The three Bolivian suspects reported to the police that they had received the coca leaves in Bolivia and were being compensated for transporting them to São Paulo, where the cargo was intended to be handed over to other individuals. This alarming case highlights the ongoing issues of international drug trafficking in Brazil and the involvement of foreign nationals in such illegal activities. Authorities are working to clamp down on these operations, underscoring the persistent challenge of drug-related crime in the region. The occurrence has been forwarded to the Federal Police Department, where the suspects will face charges related to drug trafficking. This incident sheds light on the routes and methods used by drug traffickers and raises awareness about the larger criminal networks that facilitate the smuggling of drugs across borders, a significant concern for law enforcement agencies throughout South America.
