A hunter in Lapua faced a precarious situation when he got trapped head down in a burrow he followed after his dog during a hunting expedition. The dog had chased game into a cave system, prompting the hunter to follow it for retrieval. Unfortunately, he descended headfirst and soon realized he was stuck, unable to call for help with his mobile phone. Thankfully, he managed to reach emergency services through a hunting radio he possessed, providing his location to rescuers.

Emergency responders were informed that the hunter's voice would not carry well enough to guide them, given the noise of the environment and his underground location. Fortunately, the rescue team was able to track his footprints from the parking area, leading them to his location fairly quickly. The hunter was found trapped in a two-meter-deep pit, with only his feet visible above ground when responders arrived at the scene. The entry point was narrow, which complicated their rescue efforts.

Despite the challenging conditions, including freezing temperatures, the rescuers were able to extract the hunter safely from the pit.
