On Wednesday, two dogs were rescued after falling into a 10-meter deep hole in an abandoned mining gallery located in Lauro Müller, Southern Santa Catarina. The local fire department, known as the Corpo de Bombeiros Militar, embarked on a challenging rescue operation that involved navigating a shallow river and trekking approximately one kilometer through dense forest to reach the site of the incident. The challenging terrain necessitated the use of a 4x4 vehicle to access the nearest point to the dogs.

Upon arriving at the location, rescuers discovered the first dog within the old mining gallery, but soon realized that there was a second dog also trapped at the bottom. Given the complexities of the entry and the risks involved, the team took careful precautions for their descent. Firefighters utilized controlled descents with ropes in order to safely reach both animals, demonstrating both their skill and commitment to animal safety in what was a precarious situation.
