Twenty drug packets are seized at the port of Coari, in the Amazon's interior

Twenty packets of skank marijuana were seized at the Prainha port in Coari, Amazonas, while being transported to Manaus.

On the morning of Friday, October 6, authorities seized twenty packets of skank marijuana from a boat docked at the Prainha port in Coari, a municipality in the interior of Amazonas, Brazil. The Civil Police reported that the drugs were destined for Manaus, the capital of the state, which indicated an attempted illicit transport between the two locations. The operation was carried out based on tips received about the potential smuggling of drugs.

The police initiative took place around 9 AM, prompted by intelligence reports suggesting possible drug shipping. Officers conducted an inspection on a vessel operating between Coari and Manaus, where they discovered the hidden packets. The skank packets were ingeniously concealed inside a cardboard box, covered with a layer of 'pacovã' bananas, making it a deceptive means of transport to avoid detection by law enforcement.

In total, approximately 22 kilograms of the drug were confiscated. This incident highlights ongoing issues with narcotics trafficking in the Amazon region, where the isolation of many municipalities can pose challenges for law enforcement. The operation underscores the importance of police intelligence and public tip-offs in combating drug smuggling efforts in Brazil.
