Car Burns Again in the City: This Time Near a School
A Nissan Qashqai caught fire near a school in Kaunas, Lithuania, due to electrical malfunction, though firefighters arrived after the flames had been extinguished by witnesses.
On February 5th, the Kaunas County Police received a report of a car fire at 7:53 AM on J. Basanavičiaus Street near the 'Spindulio' school. A woman called the emergency services, stating that smoke was coming from the interior of a stationary Nissan Qashqai, but there were no visible flames. The car's owner was present at the scene and seemed unsure how to react to the situation.
Firefighters were dispatched to the location, but by the time they arrived, bystanders had managed to extinguish the vehicle. Upon inspection, firefighters determined that the fire had originated from an electrical fault within the car's wiring. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported from the incident, and investigators are looking into the circumstances surrounding the fire.
This incident is part of a concerning trend in Kėdainiai, as just a week earlier, another car, a Volvo XC90, had caught fire in the city center near a church while the driver was on the road. In that case, the driver noticed the problem in time to safely stop the vehicle, raising safety concerns about the reliability of vehicle electrical systems in the area.
