The Occupation Launches a Campaign of Raids and Arrests in the West Bank
The Israeli army conducted a series of raids and arrests across the occupied West Bank, targeting multiple locations and detaining approximately 21 Palestinians.
On Saturday morning, the Israeli army launched a widespread campaign of raids and arrests throughout various areas of the occupied West Bank. In the village of Izun near Qalqilya, the Israeli military arrested about 21 Palestinians, including a child, during a round of house searches and field interrogations. The detainees were later released, according to local sources, reflecting the ongoing tension and military operations in the region.
In the neighboring village of Kafr Qaddum, Israeli forces detained Murad Shteiwi, the director of the governmental Anti-Wall and Settlement Commission, as reported by the official Palestinian news agency (Wafa). This incident occurred after a thorough search of his home, contributing to the pattern of targeting Palestinian officials and activists amid heightened military presence.
Further arrests were reported in areas such as Nablus and Bethlehem, where Israeli forces apprehended individuals during various incursions into residential buildings. The Israeli army also invaded the Balata refugee camp in Tubas, conducting searches on several homes. These operations indicate a continued Israeli strategy of imposing security measures and suppressing Palestinian dissent, further exacerbating the volatile situation in the West Bank.
