Another Basketball Assault by Gediminas Žiemelis – Tomas Pačėsas Takes Over a Polish Club

Tomas Pačėsas has taken over the management of a Polish basketball team, part of a new project from Gediminas Žiemelis after the dissolution of the Vilnius Wolves.

Tomas Pačėsas has recently been appointed as the head of a Polish basketball club in Lodz, marking a new chapter for Gediminas Žiemelis's basketball ventures. This move follows the dissolution of the Vilnius Wolves, a team that Žiemelis founded four years ago but had to dissolve last year after investing about 12 million euros. Despite the setback, Žiemelis has plans to revitalize his involvement in basketball, hinting at the possibility of the Wolves returning in the future.

The Lodz team is currently competing in Poland's second-tier basketball league and aims to win this season. With Pačėsas now at the helm, quick changes have been initiated within the team, which currently ranks fifth among 17 in the league. One significant change includes the recruitment of 41-year-old Maciej Lampes, who hasn't played in four years, and a coaching turnover that reflects a decisive shift in team strategy.

Pačėsas, having a rich history in the Polish basketball scene where he has won six championships and coached numerous teams, brings valuable experience to the Lodz club. This venture not only represents a fresh start for both Žiemelis and Pačėsas but also raises anticipation about their impact on Polish basketball as they seek to enhance the club's competitive edge.
