In Latvia - Maxima's warning to clients: urges action to be taken immediately

Maxima Latvia urges customers to change their passwords immediately for security reasons after instances of unauthorized access to loyalty program accounts.

On Friday afternoon, Maxima Latvia issued a statement highlighting that data security remains one of the company’s top priorities, with ongoing measures to protect customer data. However, despite preventive security measures, isolated cases of unauthorized access to the "Ačiū" loyalty program accounts have been identified. Importantly, there has been no evidence of a data leak from the Maxima database.

In response to these security concerns, Maxima Latvia is urging customers to change their existing passwords to new ones that comply with fundamental security requirements. The company recommends that passwords should be at least eight characters long and include at least three of the following elements: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, or symbols. Additionally, customers are strongly advised not to share their login credentials with third parties.

Maxima Latvia takes data security issues seriously and collaborates closely with the State Data Protection Inspectorate on a daily basis. This proactive approach underscores the company’s commitment to safeguarding customer information and maintaining trust in its services, especially in a time when data breaches are becoming increasingly common in various industries.
