The World Against Brazil – Graudiņa/Samoilova takes fourth place at a special tournament

Latvia's beach volleyball duo of Tīna Graudiņa and Anastasija Samoilova finished fourth in the World Team Championships against Brazil over the weekend.

Latvia's beach volleyball team of Tīna Graudiņa and Anastasija Samoilova participated in the World Team Championships held over the weekend, where they faced teams from Brazil, Germany, and Canada. With three Brazilian duos in the competition, the tournament featured a series of rounds where each pair played one-set matches against the representatives of the opposing teams. A total of nine matches were played, with points contributing to the overall standings, and pairs that secured first place in their groups advanced to the finals.

In their matches, Graudiņa and Samoilova faced tough competition, starting with a close loss against Brazil's Ana Patricia Silva and Eduarda Lisboa. They managed to bounce back with a victory over Rebeca Cavalcante and Karol Salgado and concluded their group play with a win against Tamela Coradello and Victoria Lopes. Despite their efforts, they finished second in their group behind the German duo Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann, who won all three of their matches, which ultimately led to the Latvians not qualifying for the final match.

Although Graudiņa and Samoilova did not make it to the medal rounds, their participation in this international event showcases the growing presence of Latvian beach volleyball on the world stage, as they compete against strong international opponents. The fourth-place finish reflects both their skill level and the potential for future successes in upcoming tournaments, highlighting the importance of such events in their athletic development.
