Women Robbed in Two Apartments in Šiauliai – Suspect Behind Bars

A man threatened women with a weapon resembling a firearm and stole money and mobile phones in two separate incidents in Šiauliai, Lithuania.

In Šiauliai, Lithuania, two women were robbed in their apartments by a man armed with a weapon resembling a firearm. The first incident occurred early on Sunday morning around 3:35 AM, when the suspect threatened a 27-year-old woman, stealing 60 euros and two mobile phones from her home on Tilžės Street. Later that afternoon, at approximately 3:40 PM, the same suspect targeted another woman, aged 41, taking 70 euros from her on Vytauto Street, again under the threat of a similar firearm-like object.

The suspect, born in 1987, has since been detained and a preliminary investigation has been launched into the armed robberies. Notably, the weapon used in both incidents has not been recovered by the authorities. According to Lithuanian law, anyone who commits robbery with a firearm or a dangerous object can face imprisonment for a period ranging from two to eight years, highlighting the serious legal consequences of such crimes in the country.

Local police have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as investigations continue. This series of robberies raises concerns about public safety in Šiauliai, prompting discussions about crime rates and security measures in residential areas.
