‘Paralympic 5 Medals’ Kim Yoon-ji receives special reward of 500 million won + 20 coins of pure gold

Kim Yoon-ji, who won five medals at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Paralympics, received a reward of 500 million won and a medal made of 20 coins of pure gold.

Kim Yoon-ji, at just 20 years old, made history at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Paralympics by securing a remarkable five medals—two golds and three silvers—making her the athlete with the most medals combined at both the Olympics and Paralympics. In recognition of her extraordinary achievement, she was awarded a cash prize of 500 million won during a ceremony organized by the Korean Nordic Ski Federation. The President of the Federation, Bae Dong-hyun, presented this reward as part of a larger initiative to celebrate the outstanding success of the national disabled Nordic skiing team.

The rewards were calculated according to the payment criteria set by both the BDH Foundation and the Korean Nordic Ski Federation. Kim Yoon-ji received 100 million won for each gold medal, 50 million for silvers, and 30 million for bronze medals. In addition to Kim, other members of the coaching staff also received significant rewards, including the head coach and a special bonus for all team members to honor their collective effort and performance, regardless of individual medal standings.

At the same ceremony, Bae Dong-hyun presented a specially crafted medal made of pure gold to every member of the national Nordic skiing team as a token of appreciation for their dedication and hard work. This act aims to motivate athletes irrespective of their performance results. Additionally, the ceremony honored Shin Eui-hyun and Won Yu-min, who have concluded their national representation in competitive races, with plaques recognizing their longstanding commitment and contributions to the team, underlining the value of dedication in sports achievement.
