Incheon Citizens to Enjoy Free Toll on ‘Cheongna Sky Bridge’ from Next Month

From next month, Incheon citizens will no longer have to pay tolls on the Cheongna Sky Bridge, as the toll exemption has been expanded to include all residents of Incheon.

Starting from April 6, all citizens residing in Incheon will benefit from free toll passage on the Cheongna Sky Bridge (Third Yonryuk Bridge). The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced this decision on the 23rd, stating that it will expand the existing toll exemption, which previously only applied to residents of Yeongjong, Cheongna International City, and Northern Oongjin Township who traveled on the bridge since its opening on January 5. To avail of the toll exemption, Incheon residents must register their vehicles and Hi-Pass cards with the toll system by March 30; otherwise, they will continue to incur standard toll charges.

Additionally, the economic authority has set up an automated system that will confirm residency information in order to change the exemption status automatically when a resident moves out, thus minimizing inconvenience. The Cheongna Sky Bridge, which stretches 4.68 kilometers and accommodates six lanes of traffic, is the third bridge connecting Incheon's Seogu Cheongna-dong with Yeongjong Island, home to Incheon International Airport. This bridge is unique as it also permits the passage of motorcycles and pedestrians, unlike the Yeongjong and Incheon Bridges. Since its opening, average daily traffic has been recorded at approximately 34,000 vehicles, with over 61% consisting of general vehicles and 38% benefiting from the toll discount for local residents.
