The Public Ministry of São Paulo has initiated an investigation regarding the conduct of the Metropolitan Civil Guard (GCM) in the dispersal of the Vai Quem Qué Carnaval block in the Butantã neighborhood. This decision comes in the wake of reports alleging that GCM officers employed pepper spray and tear gas against partygoers. The investigation was spurred by a formal complaint from various lawmakers and civil society members, including members of the Feminist Caucus of the PSOL party, who raised concerns about the potential excessive use of force during the operation.

The directive from the Special Public Security Group (Gaesp), under the signature of prosecutor Daniel Magalhães Albuquerque Silva, mandates the collection of information from the GCM, encompassing operational reports and action protocols used during the incident. Moreover, the GCM has been granted a deadline of 30 days to submit clarifications, and they have been asked to preserve images captured by the Smart Sampa program, which could provide further insights into the situation.
