Woke up to a totalled car: - There was a note in the window

A 25-year-old man in Oslo discovered his car had been severely damaged overnight, moved three parking spaces, and some e-scooters had also been knocked down by an unidentified vehicle.

In Oslo, a 25-year-old man named Vanebo was shocked to find his parked car totalled and moved three parking spaces up after receiving a call from the city’s environmental agency asking him to relocate it. He had parked his car legally in Markveien, a one-way street in the Grünerløkka area, and was unaware of any incident that could have caused the damage, as he and many neighbors had not heard anything during the night due to bedroom windows facing the backyard.

Investigations revealed that during the night, an unidentified vehicle struck Vanebo's car, as well as knocking down several e-scooters and a bike rack in the vicinity. The areas of debris and tire marks suggested the car responsible had possibly driven against the flow of traffic before the collision occurred. This raises questions about the accountability of drivers involved in such accidents, especially those unattended that result in significant damage to parked vehicles.

The police confirmed that they were called to the scene early Sunday morning to respond to the traffic accident. They noted the substantial material damage to the vehicle and that the car owner had already filed a report. This incident not only highlights the dangers posed by reckless driving but also brings to light the concerns of residents regarding nighttime safety and the need for more awareness amongst drivers in urban settings.
