Fire in garage destroys two cars and affects commerce in Cuiabá (MT)

A fire in Cuiabá, Brazil, destroyed two vehicles and damaged a food product store, but no injuries were reported.

In the early hours of Sunday, a fire broke out in a garage in the Santa Helena neighborhood of Cuiabá, Brazil, affecting two vehicles and a nearby food commerce establishment. The incident occurred around 2 AM and posed risks of spreading to neighboring properties due to the significant smoke produced. Fortunately, no one was injured in the blaze, according to the Military Fire Brigade of Mato Grosso (CBMMT).

Emergency services were called to the scene through the Integrated Center for Public Security Operations (Ciosp), and three firefighting units were dispatched. Upon arrival, firefighters traced the intense smoke to the rear of the building where the garage was located, finding two cars engulfed in flames. The firefighting teams acted quickly, implementing direct suppression strategies to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other areas of the commerce.

Despite the successful containment of the flames, the extreme heat caused part of the roof to overheat, necessitating further action from the firefighters to ensure the fire did not re-ignite. Thanks to their timely response, the fire was ultimately brought under control without any injuries reported, although it resulted in notable damage to the affected garage and store.
