North Macedonia: VAT on fuels almost halved

North Macedonia has announced a significant reduction in VAT on fuels in an effort to combat rising fuel prices linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict.

North Macedonia has announced that it will reduce the Value Added Tax (VAT) on fuel from 18% to 10% in an attempt to mitigate the rising fuel prices that have been affected by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Prime Minister Christian Mitskoski made the announcement following a government meeting dedicated to addressing the issue. This tax reduction is set to take effect from midnight on March 23 for a period of two weeks, with expectations that gasoline prices will remain steady while the price of diesel is projected to rise slightly by three to three and a half denars, approximately 0.04 to 0.05 euros per liter.
