Tilapia production grows in São Paulo’s countryside with investment in technology
Tilapia production in São Paulo's countryside is increasing due to significant technological investments.
Tilapia production, specifically Nile tilapia, is on the rise in the interior of São Paulo, Brazil, particularly in the town of Riolândia. A local company is currently producing around 300 tons of fish each month, which is predominantly sent to refrigeration units in São Paulo and Minas Gerais, highlighting the strong demand for the product in the region. The fish are received from Monte Aprazível, weighing approximately 30 grams, and are allowed to grow in tanks until they reach an ideal saleable weight of 900 grams to 1 kilogram. During this growth period, they are fed every 15 minutes, leading to a daily feed consumption of about 350 kilograms, which is crucial for promoting healthy growth and disease control.
