Osun State has announced an increase in its teachers’ recruitment, raising the total from 1,000 to 1,241 to include more qualified applicants.
Osun State has recently disclosed a supplementary list for its ongoing teachers' recruitment exercise for the year 2026, increasing the total number of candidates to be hired from 1,000 to 1,241. This decision was made public by Mr. Kehinde Jimoh, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education in Osun, in a statement released on Sunday. The expansion of this recruitment initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to addressing unemployment among its youth and enhancing the quality of education within the state.
The state governor, Ademola Adeleke, has been instrumental in approving these additional appointments, recognizing the necessity of integrating more qualified individuals into the teaching workforce. According to Jimoh, the distribution of the new recruits includes 660 positions for the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), 526 for the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), and 55 for Education Officers. This careful allocation aims to ensure that various educational levels are adequately staffed to support the learning needs of primary and secondary schools throughout Osun State.
By hiring more teachers, the Osun State government hopes to improve educational outcomes for students and foster a more effective learning environment. This initiative not only strives to reduce the unemployment rate among graduates but also works towards the betterment of public education, which is crucial for the state's future. Successful candidates are encouraged to verify their eligibility through the published lists and take the necessary steps to join this important educational initiative.
