Two incidents involving the theft of firearms and ammunition were reported in Lithuania, one involving a lost pistol in the Šiauliai region and another where a safe containing firearms was stolen in the Vilnius district.

The Lithuanian police department reported two alarming incidents involving firearms. A 39-year-old man reported the loss of a legally held 9mm caliber pistol and 7 rounds of ammunition in a forest located in the Šiauliai district. The individual stated that he lost the gun on March 21, and an investigation has been initiated under the Lithuanian Criminal Code for violations regarding the handling of firearms and ammunition.

In a separate incident, the police noted another theft occurring in the Vilnius district around 11 PM, where a safe containing legally held firearms, including a Sig Sauer P320 pistol, a gas pistol, and 250 rounds of 9mm ammunition, was stolen from a residence. The total estimated loss from this incident is around 3,962 euros. Police have also begun an investigation into this burglary, underlining the ongoing concern regarding firearm security in residential areas.

These thefts not only represent a significant financial loss but also raise concerns about public safety given the potential misuse of stolen firearms and ammunition. The police are urging residents to enhance security measures and report any suspicious activities as they work to recover the stolen items and apprehend those responsible for the crimes.
