Nana's experience of robbery: 'I couldn't enter my home for a while'

Nana, a former member of the group After School, discussed her life post-robbery and revealed various self-defense items in her home.

In a recent appearance on the MBC variety show 'Point of Omniscient Interference', Nana, known for her work as an actress and former member of After School, opened up about the trauma she experienced after a harrowing robbery incident last year. During the episode, which aired on the 21st, she showcased her home and disclosed that she now keeps several self-defense items scattered around, including pepper spray in her drawer and a gas gun under her bed. This precautionary habit developed following the violent intrusion into her home by an assailant armed with a weapon on November 15, 2022, when she and her mother successfully subdued him after a struggle.

Nana recounted the terrifying details of that fateful night, explaining how the sound of her barking dogs woke her mother, prompting her to confront the intruder. The fear during that encounter shifted from worrying about her own safety to an urgent desire to rescue her mother, who was momentarily incapacitated due to shock. This episode not only left Nana traumatized but also instigated a prolonged period during which she felt unsafe in her home and was unable to feel at ease. Her adoption of safety measures, including gifting self-defense equipment to others, underscores the lasting impact that the robbery has had on her sense of security.

The assailant, identified as a 34-year-old man named Kim, denies the charges against him, claiming that he did not intend to harm during the incident and believed he was entering an empty house. While he acknowledged breaking in through an open balcony window, his defense argued that there was no prior knowledge of the home belonging to Nana and that he did not possess a weapon, portraying himself as a victim in the altercation. The legal proceedings continue as both parties present their accounts of the distressing incident.
