Han Dong-hoon: The People Power Party I Loved Has Become a Party Specializing in Purges and Disciplinary Actions

Han Dong-hoon criticized the People Power Party for turning into a party focused on purges and disciplinary actions against dissenters, calling for a reconstruction of conservative politics to effectively oppose the Yoon Seok-youl administration.

On the 22nd, former leader of the People Power Party, Han Dong-hoon, expressed his discontent with the current state of the party, stating that it has transformed into an entity that employs ethical committees to expel opposing factions through purges and disciplinary measures. During a visit to the Gyeongdong Market in Seoul, he emphasized that the ruling Democratic Party is neither competent nor just, and that voters are becoming increasingly disappointed in conservative politics due to the ineffectiveness of the party leadership. He called out the 'Yoon Again' faction within the party for failing to fulfill their political duties, which has exacerbated public dissatisfaction.

Han further articulated the common sentiments he encountered while engaging with citizens in Daegu and Busan, where many expressed that the current party leadership is preoccupied with purging and disciplining dissenters rather than addressing pressing political issues. He specifically mentioned the recent court ruling that temporarily suspended the severe disciplinary actions taken against party members Baek Hyun-jin and Kim Jong-hyuk, arguing that the party is functioning abnormally and is unable to take substantive political actions. The lack of accountability within the party leadership, particularly in relation to the purging of members opposed to the 'Yoon Again' faction, is a troubling trend he sees.

Han emphasized that in order for the conservative party to regain its footing, it must reconnect with the public sentiment reflected in the marketplace. He urged citizens to take action, asserting that true politics should be about the will of the people and that he's willing to step forward when others choose to hide. His remarks come as he contemplates running for a seat in the re-election during the local elections scheduled for June 3rd, as well as the upcoming mayoral race in Busan.
