Two major summer tire tests published – this one won both

The results of a significant summer tire comparison by Tekniikan Maailma have been published, with Continental's PremiumContact 7 emerging as the top performer.

Tekniikan Maailma, a Finnish automotive publication, has released the results of its extensive summer tire comparison, revealing that the Continental PremiumContact 7 topped the rankings with a score of 9.3. Closely following were Michelin's Primacy 5 and Nokian Tires' Hakka Blue 3, which scored 9.0. The Continental tire was rated as having "very good" characteristics, although it received criticism for its rolling resistance, while the Michelin tire was praised for not having any significant weaknesses, though it is slightly more expensive.

The Michelin Primacy 5 was noted to be 600 euros per set for the test vehicle, a Volkswagen Golf, compared to 550 euros for the Continental. Meanwhile, the Nokian Hakka Blue 3 was described as being "excellent in almost all characteristics," yet it too faced similar complaints about its rolling resistance. This competitive analysis highlights the high standards and performance expectations among global tire manufacturers.

The tests were conducted at Nokian Tires' two-year-old track near Madrid, Spain, which includes several test tracks designed to emulate Nordic road conditions. In a related note, Swedish publication Aftonbladet provided additional insights regarding the testing conditions, emphasizing the rigorous evaluation these tires underwent to ensure optimal performance for consumers in varying climates.
