Lollapalooza has a good selection of electronic music despite the lack of Latino DJs
The Lollapalooza festival featured a strong lineup of electronic music, although it faced criticism for not including more Latino DJs.
The Lollapalooza festival has become a pivotal event in the music calendar, and this year, it focused on providing a diverse range of electronic music. After a rather forgettable lineup in 2025, this year's roster saw a careful curation of sounds from the electronic genre that resonated with festival-goers. Although the scheduling and genre diversity remained points of contention, the overall selection was largely seen as a success.
Most of the featured electronic artists performed on the Perry stage, notably drawing attention to their performances right at the festival's entrance. A standout moment came from Skrillex, an American DJ who is considered one of the leading figures in electronic music today, as he performed on the festival’s second largest stage. Another highlight was the set by horsegiirL, a German DJ known for her innovative take on modern trance, hyperpop, and 'happy hardcore' music, captivating the audience with her energetic mixing and live vocals despite performing in a horse mask.
Sunday's lineup further elevated the festival’s electronic music offerings, prominently featuring the renowned Japanese DJ Yousuke Yukimatsu, among other emerging Brazilian artists. The inclusion of fresh talent from Brazil demonstrates the festival's willingness to embrace and promote new sounds within the electronic genre, which could be crucial for its future relevance and the ongoing evolution of the music scene in Latin America.
