COAS praises soldiers’ resilience against IPOB/ESN in South East
The Chief of Army Staff of Nigeria commended troops for their effective operations against the Indigenous People of Biafra and the Eastern Security Network in the South East region.
Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Nigeria, has commended the soldiers involved in Operation UDO KA for their resilience and ongoing offensive operations against the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN). During a Special Sallah Luncheon in Orsu, Imo State, General Shaibu, represented by Major General Valentine Okoro, praised the troops for their courage and commitment in addressing the persistent threats posed by these groups.
The COAS emphasized that the dedication and bravery displayed by the soldiers are highly commendable, stating that their operations have played a significant role in degrading the capabilities of criminal entities operating in the region. The Nigerian Army has been actively combating the IPOB and ESN as part of their strategy to restore security and confidence among the local populace, which has been affected by the activities of these groups.
This acknowledgment from the COAS comes at a strategic time when the Nigerian military is focused on stabilizing the South East region, which has seen an uptick in violence linked to the IPOB and ESN. The success in recent military campaigns is crucial, not only for the safety of citizens but also for enhancing public trust in the military's role in maintaining order and security in the area.
