Strong storm with rain and winds: one dead in Córdoba, one woman injured in La Plata, and power outages in Greater Buenos Aires

A severe storm across Argentina resulted in one fatality in Córdoba and injuries in La Plata, with significant weather disruptions leading to power outages.

A powerful storm characterized by heavy rain and strong winds struck several cities in Argentina as autumn arrived, severely impacting areas such as Córdoba, Rosario, Santa Fe, Buenos Aires, La Plata, and Mar del Plata. The storm caused extensive damage, including fallen trees, disrupted electrical lines, and interruptions to internet and cable TV services. Municipal emergency services were deployed to clear streets and assist residents, particularly in the affected zones of Greater Buenos Aires, where power outages impacted more than 35,000 users.

The most tragic incident occurred in Córdoba, where a 29-year-old man was found dead after being swept away by a swollen river in La Pampa. This incident highlights the severe risks posed by rapid weather changes, as the victim, along with a friend, attempted to cross the flooded river. Unfortunately, these conditions made it extremely hazardous, resulting in the young man's tragic death, as reported by Córdoba police.

As authorities continue to respond to the aftermath of the storm, residents are urged to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in areas prone to flooding. The storm serves as a reminder of the increasing frequency of severe weather events affecting the region, raising concerns about future safety and infrastructure resilience as climate patterns shift.
