Karalis wins silver at World Championship – Gold for Duplantis
Emmanouil Karalis secured a silver medal in pole vault at the World Indoor Championships in Torun, while Armand Duplantis claimed gold.
Emmanouil Karalis achieved a remarkable performance at the World Indoor Championships in Torun by winning a silver medal in the pole vault final. He started his jumps at a height of 5.70 meters, which he easily cleared. He continued to perform well at 5.85 meters and 5.95 meters. Despite a technical error that initially hindered him at 6.00 meters, Karalis successfully made the height on his second attempt, thus entering the medal zone.
After clearing 6.05 meters, Karalis had effectively eliminated all competition apart from Armand Duplantis, the reigning champion. This achievement marks Karalis's third medal at the World Championships, following his bronze in 2024 in Glasgow and silver in 2025 in Nanjing. His performance is particularly significant as it contributes to Greece's legacy in pole vault, marking the fourth Greek medal in this event's history at the Championships.
Karalis's success not only showcases his talent but also highlights the competitiveness of Greek athletes on the world stage. This victory in the world arena provides inspiration for upcoming athletes and places Greece firmly on the map in track and field events, especially in pole vault, where they may aspire to achieve similar greatness in the future.
