Latvian skier Patrīcija Eiduka faced a challenging day in the final stage of the World Cup cross-country skiing season held in Leikplejsid, USA, where she could not progress beyond the quarter-finals in the sprint event. In the first round of elimination heats, Eiduka finished fifth in her heat, trailing behind the heat winner, Sweden's Linn Svahn, by 2.47 seconds, which was not enough to qualify for the semi-finals as only the top two from each heat and two fastest losers advanced. Eiduka had previously secured her place among the contenders by finishing in 19th position during the qualification round, which featured 61 competitors. Although she performed respectably to make it onto the elimination heats, her results in the sprint did not qualify her for further progress, marking a disappointing end to her season. In the men's sprint qualification, Latvian skiers Nick Saulītis and Dāvis Kalniņš faced tough competition, finishing 53rd and 70th respectively, which also meant they did not advance to the elimination rounds. The season is set to conclude with a 20-kilometer classic style race, scheduled to take place on Sunday at 18:30.
