New information regarding the fire in Ursynów. Did the flames first appear at the shooting range?
A fire at a shooting range in Ursynów, Warsaw resulted in four fatalities and two injuries; investigations into the cause are ongoing.
A tragic fire occurred at a shooting range located on the ground floor in Ursynów, Warsaw, where firefighters responded to calls regarding a fire involving a minibus and part of the range. Upon arrival, rescue teams conducted efforts to extinguish flames outside the vehicle and inside the facility. During these operations, four individuals were found and evacuated, with one additional person discovered later; unfortunately, four of them were pronounced dead and two sustained injuries, as reported by Artur Gonera, a senior official from the State Fire Service.
Investigators are currently looking into the fire's origin, with preliminary findings suggesting that the flames might have first erupted within the building before escaping through an open door, potentially opened by one of the victims. This led to the ignition of the minibus parked outside. The incident has raised questions regarding the safety protocols at the shooting range, especially considering the presence of casualties, including both Polish nationals and Ukrainians.
As the investigation continues, efforts are being made to secure the site and determine the exact circumstances under which the fire started. This incident highlights the ongoing concerns over public safety in urban settings, particularly in venues that gather large groups, and may prompt a review of fire safety inspections in similar establishments across Poland.
