Psychologist from PR who treated girl victim of sexual abuse is convicted after making her wear only underwear in sessions and touching her body
A psychologist in Brazil was sentenced to almost 20 years for sexual abuse involving a young victim and other women, revealing a pattern of psychological manipulation and violation.
Psychologist Giovani Caetano Jaskulski has been sentenced to 19 years, 10 months, and eight days in prison for committing sexual violations against a young female patient and several others. The case involved a specific incident where a 16-year-old girl, who had previously been a victim of sexual abuse, reported that Jaskulski forced her to wear only her underwear during therapy sessions and touched her body inappropriately.
The investigation, led by the Public Ministry of Paraná (MP-PR), identified four additional victims aged 23, 32, 37, and 44, suggesting that this was not an isolated incident. Jaskulski, who was practicing in Guarapuava, Paraná, had a history of three previous convictions, which contributed to the length of his current sentence. His arrest took place on March 12, as authorities moved to prevent further abuse amid growing scrutiny of his practices.
The case raises significant concerns regarding the protection of vulnerable clients in therapeutic settings. The defense has chosen not to comment, citing the confidentiality of the proceedings, but the situation has led to a broader discussion on the need for stricter regulations and monitoring of mental health professionals to prevent such abuses in the future.
