Traffic in the Parque dos Poderes will change this Sunday due to COP15 in Campo Grande; learn more
Traffic in the Parque dos Poderes area of Campo Grande will be restricted this Sunday due to the international COP15 conference.
On Sunday, Campo Grande will implement significant traffic alterations around the Parque dos Poderes region as preparations for the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (COP15/CMS) take place. From noon, both vehicles and pedestrians will be barred from accessing the administrative area as local authorities ensure adherence to security protocols associated with this international event.
The changes will affect access routes significantly. Drivers traveling along Avenida Afonso Pena toward Avenida Mato Grosso will only be allowed to turn onto Avenida do Poeta until the Beirute roundabout, after which they must turn back. Conversely, vehicles coming from the opposite direction will only be granted access until the roundabout near the state agency (Agesul), effectively managing the expected influx of participants while prioritizing safety in the vicinity of the COP15 activities.
These traffic adjustments were requested by the Military Command of the West (CMO) and are meant to facilitate a secure environment during the proceedings of COP15, slated to occur at the Centro de Convençáes Rubens Gil de Camillo. This adaptation not only reflects local authorities' response to the needs of international visitors but also highlights the local government's commitment to ensuring a smooth operation during high-profile events.
