Family 'business' with steroids in Thessaloniki – 3 arrests

Greek authorities have arrested three family members in Thessaloniki for allegedly distributing illegal steroids and unapproved dietary supplements.

Greek law enforcement (EL.AS.) announced the dismantling of a criminal organization involved in the supply and distribution of illegal anabolic substances and unapproved dietary supplements. The operation led to the arrest of three individuals connected by family ties - a 36-year-old, his 31-year-old sister, and their 61-year-old father - who were charged with serious crimes and referred to the second investigating judge in Thessaloniki.

The arrests were the culmination of an investigation by the Northern Greece Subdivision for Organized Crime Prevention that intensified leading up to the arrests conducted yesterday morning. The authorities revealed that the accused were operating a gym and a shop where they sold these illegal substances while also maintaining a website to promote their products. This organized method of operation indicates the serious nature of the illicit activities being conducted.

According to the announcement by EL.AS., the anabolic substances were primarily intended for athletes looking to enhance their performance. This case highlights a significant issue in the sports community regarding the illegal use and distribution of performance-enhancing drugs and raises questions about the measures in place to prevent such activities in professional and amateur sports alike.
