Tanzania Uses the Bharat Electricity Platform to Unveil Its Success in the Energy Sector
Tanzania's Ministry of Energy showcased the country's advancements in the energy sector at the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026 in India.
During the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026, Felchesmi Mramba, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy in Tanzania, discussed the nation’s strategic initiatives in enhancing power generation, transmission, and management to support its expanding economy. He highlighted that the government is actively pursuing multiple energy projects to meet the growing electricity demands essential for socio-economic development.
Mramba specifically pointed out the progress of the Kishapu solar power project, which has a capacity of 150 megawatts, indicating that the first phase is operational and contributing 50 megawatts to the national grid. Additionally, he mentioned the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (JNHPP), a significant undertaking that aims to add 2,115 megawatts of capacity, emphasizing its crucial role in fulfilling the energy needs of Tanzania’s rapidly growing population and industries.
Tanzania’s participation in international forums like the Bharat Electricity Summit underlines the country’s commitment to bolstering its energy sector and attracting foreign investment.
