Malawi: NBM Commits K20 Million for SKC Foundation Golf Fundraiser
The National Bank of Malawi has pledged K20 million for a charity golf tournament organized by the SKC Foundation to raise funds for essential medical equipment.
The National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc has pledged K20 million in support of the upcoming charity golf tournament hosted by the SKC Foundation, scheduled for March 28, 2026, in Lilongwe. This event is intended to generate funds for the acquisition of critical medical equipment, including dialysis machines and patient monitors, which will be distributed to key hospitals across Malawi. This initiative is aligned with the strategic guidance of the Ministry of Health, emphasizing the importance of enhancing healthcare services in the country.
During the cheque presentation ceremony in Lilongwe, Maureen Gwembere, the Service Centre Manager for NBM, articulated the bank's dedication to facilitating improved healthcare access for Malawians. She stated that the primary goal of the initiative is to procure essential medical supplies that would significantly benefit local communities, underscoring the bank's commitment to social responsibility and the well-being of the population. The financial investment made by NBM is not only a gesture of support for a worthy cause but also a testament to their role as a corporate citizen in addressing healthcare challenges in Malawi.
Additionally, the golf tournament is structured to honor the legacy of late Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima, thus adding a layer of significance to the event. The SKC Foundation aims to create a lasting impact that resonates with the late vice president's vision for improving health services. The support from private sectors like NBM is crucial in bridging the gaps in medical equipment availability, further ensuring that healthcare institutions are well-equipped to serve the Malawian population's needs effectively.
