Two men are arrested in flagrant with submachine gun and drugs in the interior of Bahia

Two men were arrested in Brazil’s Bahia state after being found with a homemade submachine gun and drugs in a public area following a police tip-off.

In the suburb of Vista Alegre, Serrinha, approximately 70 kilometers from Feira de Santana, two men, aged 18 and 25, were arrested on the night of Thursday, October 19, after local police acted on a tip regarding drug trafficking in the area. The police were informed about the presence of armed individuals on the streets and responded promptly to the location. Upon their arrival, they found the suspects in front of a residence, where they conducted a search that revealed portions of marijuana and cocaine on the individuals.

During the investigation, the suspects admitted to the police that there were more drugs and a homemade submachine gun inside the house. The law enforcement officers then searched the residence and discovered additional narcotics along with the firearm. Besides the main items of concern, the police also seized cell phones, ammunition, and a precision scale, all of which were forwarded to the Technical Police Department for examination.

The suspects were subsequently taken to the 1st Territorial Police Station in Serrinha for processing. This incident highlights ongoing issues with drug trafficking and possession of illegal firearms in Brazil, especially in rural areas. The police's quick response to the tip-off demonstrates their commitment to combating crime in the region, although challenges related to drug-related violence continue to be a significant concern for local authorities.
