Estonian meat producer launched a product line for children that meets new dietary requirements

Nõo Lihatööstus has introduced a new series of children's products that comply with Estonia's updated nutritional guidelines for schools and kindergartens.

Nõo Lihatööstus, an Estonian meat producer, has launched a new product line called NOMPS that meets the recently established nutritional standards for children in schools and kindergartens. This series distinguishes itself by having a low sodium content, as well as the absence of E621 and artificial flavors and fragrances. Simmo Kruustük, chairman of the board at Nõo Lihatööstus, emphasized that they were the first company in Estonia to implement these principles, thus ensuring that the products are not only rich in meat content but also cater to the expectations of parents and children alike.

The new dietary regulations for child catering came into effect this autumn, marking the first significant update in 17 years. These guidelines aim to improve the nutritional quality of meals provided in schools, kindergartens, camps, and foster homes. The NOMPS series has been developed in collaboration with industry specialists to fully comply with the new regulations, which stipulate that meals should contain a minimum of 7% meat.

This initiative signifies a concerted effort by the Estonian government and local businesses to enhance children's nutrition in educational settings, ultimately fostering healthier eating habits from a young age. The adaptation of these regulations and subsequent product developments like NOMPS reflect a growing recognition of the importance of proper nutrition for child development and overall health in Estonia.
