The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that Russia has lost around 1,286,940 troops in Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has disclosed that Russia's troop losses in the ongoing conflict have reached approximately 1,286,940 since the onset of the invasion on February 24, 2022. This figure highlights the high cost of the war for Russia, which includes both combat deaths and other military personnel losses in various engagements. Recently, the report indicated that Russian forces alone suffered 1,240 casualties in just one day, underscoring the intensity of the conflict and the ongoing struggles on the battlefield.
Additionally, the report outlines considerable losses of military equipment, with Russia having lost a significant number of tanks, vehicles, artillery systems, and aircraft. Specifically, more than 11,790 tanks and nearly 25,000 armored combat vehicles have been reported lost, alongside thousands of drones and various naval assets. Such numbers illustrate the operational challenges facing Russian forces and indicate a significant depletion of military resources, which could affect their capabilities moving forward in the war.
In contrast, Ukrainian officials have not provided similar transparency regarding their own troop losses, adhering to operational secrecy. However, President Volodymyr Zelensky mentioned in a February interview that approximately 55,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed, not including additional personnel classified as missing. This ongoing conflict's human toll reflects the fierce nature of combat in Ukraine, with both sides enduring substantial losses in a war that has evolved dramatically since its initial invasion stages.
