Three cars damaged in an accident in Vilnius district caused by a drunk driver – in the hospital

A drunk driver caused a three-car accident in Vilnius district, resulting in his hospitalization due to injuries.

On Friday evening in the village of Šatrininkai on Šumsko plente, a traffic incident occurred involving three vehicles, caused by a 1964-born man driving a VW while under the influence, with a blood alcohol content of 1.73. As he turned left without yielding, his car collided with an oncoming Ford driven by a man born in 1975. Following the collision, the Ford crashed into a stationary Renault parked on the roadside with a driver born in 1968.

The consequences of the accident included substantial damage to all three vehicles. The VW driver suffered injuries from the collision and was subsequently hospitalized for treatment. This event not only highlights the dangers of drunk driving but also raises concerns about road safety in the area, especially given the serious nature of injuries that can occur in such events.

In response to the accident, local authorities have initiated a pre-trial investigation regarding driving under the influence, which indicates a proactive approach to addressing this pressing issue in the region. With the increase in road traffic incidents related to alcohol consumption, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for stricter enforcement and public awareness campaigns on safe driving practices.
