Abandoned to die in the forest. Pančo, who survived human assaults, experiences love in his new family
After losing her previous dog Rekša, Sanita adopts Pančo, a distressed dog found abandoned in the forest, and helps him adjust to a new loving home.
Sanita felt a profound emptiness after the loss of her dog Rekša, as the absence of her companion became palpable in her daily life despite having three cats in the house. Recognizing the void left by Rekša, she initially resisted the idea of bringing a new dog into her home. However, almost three months later, Sanita adopted Pančo, a dog discovered in a dire state in the forest, where he had been abandoned to die. He was extremely malnourished, covered in debris, and showed signs of having suffered physical abuse, including broken ribs and paws.
Upon arriving at his new home, Pančo's trauma became evident as he displayed significant anxiety; he reacted fearfully to sounds, often running and jumping at the slightest noise. His nights were tumultuous, filled with panic and barking as he adjusted to the safety of his new environment. While Sanita did not dwell on Pančo's previous owner, she noted the dog's fearful responses in certain situations, showing his past had left deep psychological scars.
Sanita's love and patience began to help Pančo heal emotionally, allowing him to express affection and trust. With time, the bond between them grew stronger, transforming the once-abandoned dog into a cherished member of the family, highlighting the resilience of animals and the capacity for love to mend their past traumas.
