Ilona saved her dogs from death in Georgia and Montenegro. The happy story of four pawed friends
Ilona Vārpa has adopted several dogs from Georgia and Montenegro, offering them a loving home amidst their health challenges and past traumas.
Ilona Vārpa, a compassionate animal lover in Latvia, has become the guardian of several dogs, including three rescued from difficult circumstances in Georgia and Montenegro. One of the dogs, Martiņa, approximately 12 years old, was in poor health when she arrived at Ilona's home in November. Ilona knew she needed to save Martiņa due to her numerous health issues, echoing the struggles of many neglected pets that face challenges in finding loving homes.
Among her adopted pets, Black Diamond hails from Georgia, while the black-and-white dog Arčiks is from Montenegro. Ilona reflects on how she first took Arčiks in as a temporary foster, intending to find him a permanent home. However, she quickly grew fond of him, realizing he belonged with her. Arčiks, possibly abandoned after being deemed unsuitable for hunting, displays smart behavior, indicating his training from a young age, and has adapted well to his new environment.
Ilona not only rescues dogs from these countries but also continues to advocate for abandoned pets in Latvia. The plight of stray and neglected dogs resonates with Ilona, leading her to become a beacon of hope for these animals. Her story illuminates the need for awareness surrounding pet abandonment and the importance of adopting animals in need, both locally and internationally.
