The data indicates that the number of completed or attempted arsons rose from 104 in the previous year to 182 in the current year. Interestingly, while the number of arson attacks has escalated, the figures for fatal shootings have seen a decline. This juxtaposition raises questions about the shifting patterns of violence in Sweden, particularly in urban areas where crime rates have typically been higher. The report also identifies that the majority of arson incidents occurred in metropolitan regions, especially in areas under the jurisdiction of the Eastern police region, notably Norrköping.
