Municipal schools in Monte Mor will have panic button for incidents such as invasions and threats

Municipal schools in Monte Mor, Brazil, are introducing a panic button system to enhance security against incidents like invasions and threats.

The municipal schools in Monte Mor, São Paulo, are taking a significant step towards enhancing security with the implementation of a panic button system. This initiative, which started this week, allows school directors and designated individuals to quickly notify the Municipal Civil Guard in case of emergencies, ensuring a swift response to potential threats. The system will be installed in 32 schools, catering to around 11,000 students in the area.

Upon activation, the panic button sends a direct alert to the Guard's central command, pinpointing the exact location of the incident. This immediate communication allows for a rapid deployment of guard personnel to the affected school. Denival Santana, the commander of the Municipal Guard, detailed how this system is designed to prioritize quick response times in critical situations, thereby improving the overall safety of students and staff.

The inspiration for this initiative comes from a similar panic button system developed for women facing violence. By adopting such technology for schools, Monte Mor aims to proactively address safety concerns, fostering a secure learning environment. This move is part of a larger trend in Brazil where local administrations are increasingly focusing on enhancing public safety measures in educational institutions.
