The City Hall of Araguari has officially authorized the renovation and modernization of the Santos Dumont Airport's infrastructure with an investment of nearly R$ 11 million. This initiative aimed at improving local air transport facilities was marked by a formal event in Brasília attended by key stakeholders including representatives from the Araguari City Hall, the Ministry of Ports and Airports, and the engineering company AGR Botelho Engenharia Ltda, which has been contracted to carry out the work.
The contract for the renovation project was signed on March 11 and details published in the local official journal on March 12. The engineering firm is expected to complete the renovations within a timeframe of 17 months, significantly enhancing the operational capacity of the airport. The funding for the project comes from the National Fund for Civil Aviation and is part of the New Growth Acceleration Program, which is reflected in the 2025 Annual Budget Law.
This renovation comes at a crucial time for Araguari as it seeks to boost its local economy and improve connectivity, especially when air travel has become increasingly vital for regional development. With the enhancement of airport facilities, the city intends to attract more passengers and possibly more investors, aligning with broader economic goals. This project will serve not only the immediate community but potentially the greater region, indicating a commitment to infrastructure modernization in Brazil.
